How do I choose a first mechanical keyboard?
I mostly write code and long notes. I want something comfortable and not too loud, but the switch options are confusing.

Start with a hot-swappable board and quiet tactile switches. That gives you a comfortable default and room to experiment without buying a whole new keyboard.

Pay attention to layout before switches. A compact board is nice, but losing arrow keys or function keys can be annoying for coding.
